NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 10: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the application process for UGC NET from September 1. Aspirants vying for the positions of Assistant professor, Junior Research Fellow or both can register for the exam till September 30, 2018. The application fees can be paid till October 1, 2018. As per the notification published by NTA, the exam will be December 9 to 23, 2018 in the computer based mode.
This year, UGC NET will constitute two papers, Paper 1 and 2 for 50 and 100 marks, respectively. Both the papers will be held in two shifts- morning and evening. Each shift in Paper 1 will be conducted for a duration of 1 hour, with the first shift starting at 9:30 am and the second starting at 2 am. For Paper 2, the duration is 2 hours and the morning shift will begin at 11 am while the evening one will start at 3:30 pm.
The questions included in Paper 1 are generic in nature, with intent to analyze the candidates’ research ability, general knowledge and reasoning ability among others. In Paper 2 will be based on the subject selected by the candidate.
The application fee for General category students is Rs.800, while that for OBC category applicants, it is Rs.400. For ST, SC, PwD and Transgender the application fee is Rs. 200. Applicants have to select up to four exam centres to appear for the exam. While, NTA is expected to allot the hometown as the centre for the exam to candidates, in some cases the candidate might be allotted another exam centre from the four selected options.
In case, applicants have to make any change to their application forms, they can do so between October 8 to 14. Admit card for the exam will be available for download from October 19. The result for UGC NET is expected to be declared by January 10.
