New Delhi January 16: With just a few days left for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme, the Ministry of Human resource Development on Tuesday said that it has received over 2.5 lakh entries from students for participation in in the programme. The MHRD stated that there is an increase of more than one lakh entries compared to last year.

Beating exam stress

‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme, which will be held on January 20, PM Modi will interact with students and teachers on beating exam stress. This will be the third edition of the programme.

The development comes as the Centre earlier had invited suggestions and questions from students, parents and teachers for the programme.

MHRD shortlists students

For the participation in the programme, the MHRD said that it has shortlisted students who will get to ask PM Modi questions on the basis of essays submitted by them on five subjects. The subjects for the essays include ‘Gratitude is Great’, ‘Your Future Depends on Your Aspirations’, ‘Examining Exams’, ‘Our Duties, Your Take’ and ‘Balance is Beneficial’. For the essay writing, the participants were asked to write their responses on any one of five themes in a maximum of 1500 characters.

Over 1.4 lakh entries last year

The MHRD said that it had last year received around 1.4 lakh entries from students and this time it has received around 2.5 lakh entries. Accordingly, the Ministry has selected 1,050 students on the basis of the essays submitted by them.

The MHRD also added that the programme last year was watched or heard by more than 8.5 crore students from across the country on DD, TV channels and radio channels. PM Modi took up 10 questions in the 2018 edition and 16 in last year’s session.

This year’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme will be held on January 20. Actually, it was earlier slated to be held on January 16 but was rescheduled due to festivals across the country.

On December 5 last year the Prime Minister had announced the competition. “Exams are approaching and so is Pariksha Pe Charcha! Let us keep working together to ensure stress-free examinations. Here is a unique contest for students of Classes 9 to 12. The winners will get to attend PPC 2020 early next year!” PM Modi had tweeted.
