Navodayas, Kendriya Vidyalayas show good performance in JEE Advanced, NEET

New Delhi, June 21: As many as 966 candidates out of a total of 4,451 students, who appeared in JEE Advanced 2019 from various Navodaya Vidyalayas, have qualified for admissions to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), India’s premier engineering institutions. JEE Advanced 2019, conducted by IIT Roorkee, has also witnessed excellent performance given by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, another autonomous body under Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). Data analysis has revealed that 1,019 out of 6,094 KV students, who appeared for the JEE Advanced this year, are announced qualified.

A tweet from MHRD stated that a total of 14,500 Navodaya Vidyalaya students appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) this year, which is the national entry level test for medical admissions. Of these, as many as 12,654 students are declared qualified.

Over 1.60 lakh candidates took JEE Advanced

The result of JEE Advanced 2019 has been announced by IIT Roorkee on June 14. The national level engineering entrance exam was conducted on May 27. As many as 1,61,319 candidates appeared for both paper 1 and 2. Of these, a total of 38,705 test-takers have cleared the exam.

The result of JEE Main 2019 was announced on April 29. Out of 21,229 KV students who appeared in the entrance test this year, as many as 6,094 candidates had qualified to appear in JEE Advanced.

At present, there are a total of 1,205 Kendriya Vidyalayas that are functioning across India along with three being run in the Embassies of Tehran, Kathmandu and Moscow. More than 12.75 lakh students are being catered education in these schools.

KVS has also shown its highest ever Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) results of Class 12 exam with an overall pass percentage of 98.54. It has also excelled in the category of all institutes for the second consecutive year.

About Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)

Only those candidates are eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced who clear JEE Main. Both the exams are conducted in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The JEE Advanced qualified candidates are eligible for admissions to the IITs.
