J&K advertises posts for 5 new medical colleges

Jammu, Mar 3: Fast-tracking the staff recruitment for the five new medical colleges in the state,the Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday advertised 550 posts of junior staff nurses, in addition to the 1,235 posts that were announced earlier.

The new medical colleges are coming up in five districts in the state – Doda, Kathua, Anantnag, Baramulla and Rajouri districts. Currently, there are four medical colleges in the state, two in the Kashmir Valley and two in the Jammu Division. The seats for the MBBS course will also increase by 500.

According to the PRO of the board, Malik Suhail, the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board also advertised 221 posts – 183 junior assistants, 38 junior scale stenographers – for other government jobs in the state. The board’s online portal is now about to accept applications for the said jobs and the same will commence from March 6, 2019.

How to apply

Suhail said the candidates are required to apply online at JKSSB portal www.ssbjk.in and no other means/mode of application shall be accepted,” he said.  The board cautioned the candidates to carefully read details in the advertisement before filling online application forms, as most of these posts require technical qualifications.

Meanwhile, the selection process for the teaching faculties of the five new colleges has already been started by the state’s Public Service Commission that makes selections for all government jobs in Jammu and Kashmir.

The JKSSB has cautioned that the candidates will be responsible for filling the details in the online application forms and the information submitted by them shall be treated as final for the purpose of determining their eligibility.“No claim on account of non-filling of information shall be entertained subsequently,” the board said.

Renewed push for medical colleges in state

The Jammu and Kashmir government is making a renewed bid to strengthen the medical education in the state with the announcement of new colleges, and recruitment of staff across the state. The centre released Rs 260 crore for the new five medical colleges in the state in December 2018, which takes the total figure of central funding share to Rs 765 crores. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had sanctioned the five new medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir with a funding of Rs 189 crore for each college, with Rs 139 crore to be used for civil works and Rs 50 crore for machinery and equipment.
