New Delhi, Dec 10: IIT Kharagpur has been awarded the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) Excellence Award 2018 for cyber security education. Set up by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), DSCI is an industry body on data protection. The IIT has won this award for its focused syllabus and research work in the fields of hardware security, cyber security, cryptography and network security that has aided in creating awareness among students, an IIT KGP statement stated.
“Our research and coursework in cyber security, network security and cryptography are targeted towards delivering the necessary technologies and also creating leaders in research, industry and governance who would bring forward such transformation in India which is undergoing the digital revolution right now as we talk,” Director, IIT KGP, Prof P P Chakrabarti has been quoted as saying to a national daily.
IIT Kharagpur has made waves in cyber security, IoT security, artificial intelligence
IIT Kharagpur is known for making huge development in the fields of cyber security, IoT (Internet of Things) security and allied areas in artificial intelligence. Various research ventures of the department of computer science and engineering at the IIT were considered for this award principally. The sources of IIT Kharagpur said that the endeavors include the funded projects of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on the development of lightweight protocols for authentication of IoT nodes, IC reverse engineering and trojan detection along with the DST-funded ‘Swarnajayanti’ project on secured authentication protocols for smart grids.
The offered programmes at the institute are aimed at bringing out troubleshooters. The students of IIT Kharagpur are expected to become inspiring leaders and skilful problem solvers and this is beneficial for them in their professional careers as well as within their communities, the Director told a news daily.
