CBSE tells DU to align admission procedure as per the Board’s schedule

New Delhi, May 22:  Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has written to the Registrar, University of Delhi (DU) to align its admission procedure as per the schedule fixed by the Board. The step is taken after confusion cropped up regarding CBSE revaluation schedule and its effects on the University’s undergraduate (UG) admissions. CBSE has declared that its revaluation process will commence only on May 24, whereas DU is ready to begin its admission procedure anytime soon. This has caused stress for DU aspirants who are willing to apply for revaluation.

CBSE announced results way ahead of schedule

Following a Delhi High Court order to conclude the process before the UG admissions start, CBSE declared the Class 12 results earlier than the scheduled date. The exams had commenced on February 15 and had concluded on April 3, 2019. The result was announced within 28 days, which was around three weeks before the usual schedule.

ICSE board declares the results before CBSE every year, but CBSE was ahead of it this time.

“The Delhi High court had asked all boards to finish the result process before the undergraduate admissions begin so there is no hassle about pending results and students being stuck,” a board official had said on May 2 after the results were announced.

Moreover, CBSE had also advanced the beginning of the exam by two weeks this year.

“CBSE will be completing its re-evaluation process also at the earliest.  Now, Delhi University has to fix the last date of submission of application form for admission in Delhi University in such a manner that the work of re-evaluation is over prior to the last date of Delhi University admission process,” CBSE said in a statement.

In 2018, over three lakh students showed interest in the Delhi University undergraduate admission procedure.

In the meantime, other major boards like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar have declared the Class 12 result in last one month.

DU admission details will be available on its official website, du.ac.in.
