IIMB Executive MBA programme is meant for those executives who wish to pursue an MBA course in their mid-career to sharpen their management skills. The executive MBA programme in Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), termed as ‘Executive Post-Graduate Programme’, is a full-time one-year programme. The fee for International Immersion is subject to change based on the actual expenditure incurred for each student towards travel, accommodation and course fees in the foreign university. The Tuition Fee covers cost of tuition, course material, computing and networking, library, alumni association, student activities and career counselling.

The Indian Institute of Management provides accommodation to participants based on their preferences in an apartment complex which is about 3.5 km from the campus. For commuting purpose, the institute offers a frequent shuttle service. A single participant is allotted one room in a three-bedroom flat. Married students who wish to relocate with their families are provided a two-bedroom flat.

IIMB Executive MBA – Funding options:

Many finanacial institutions and Banks offer loans for students of executive MBA programmes at Indian Institutes of Management, Bangalore (IIMB). While the loan amount offered by different vary in the range of Rs 20 to 30 lakh, the interest rate per annum is in the range of 10 to 11.5 per cent. The banks usually seek repayment in 10-15 year and the EMI after the course completion.

IIMB Executive MBA Scholarship:

EPGP Merit Scholarship: It is awarded to students in the top five ranks on the basis of CGPA at the end of Term 2 (i.e. Core Terms 1 and 2 taken together). The amount of each scholarship is INR 750,000.

EPGP Admission Scholarship: It is awarded to students in the top five ranks in each of Rounds 1 and 2 on the basis of the overall admission score. The amount of each scholarship is INR 600,000.

It is to be awarded as follows:

  1. A) INR 300,000 in the form of waiver of fee payable at the time of registration;
  2. B) INR 300,000 if the student is in the top 25 per cent of the class on the basis of CGPA at the end of Term 2 (i.e. Core Terms 1 and 2 taken together) in the form of waiver of fee payable in the next instalment.

EPGP International Scholarship: This is a new scholarship designed to attract international students in order to increase classroom diversity. Two scholarships of INR 1,00,0000 will be awarded to the nationals of countries in the SAARC (other than India) and ASEAN regions and from Africa. The conditions are as follows:

  1. A) Candidates educated outside India are eligible.
  2. B) The scholarship will be awarded to the candidates in the top two ranks from among those who meet the eligibility conditions as follows:
  • INR 500,000 in the form of waiver of fee payable at the time of registration;
  • INR 500,000 in the form of waiver of fee payable from the first installment of fee payable.

IIMB Executive MBA programme- Eligibility

The key eligibility for the MBA programme run by IIMB, known as Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP), at least 5 years of work experience preferably with diverse work experience. The details of IIM Executive MBA programme eligibility is given below:

  • Graduate in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average
  • Minimum 5 years (and preferably less than 12 years) of work experience after completion of graduation (as on March 31 of the admission year)
  • A valid GMAT or GRE score. The validity of GMAT and GRE scores is five years for this executive programme.

IIM Bangalore Executive MBA –Admission Process

The admission process of IIM B Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) is done in two rounds. First round of application window opens in the month of June and continues till August end followed by the second window which opens in September and continues till first week of December.

The executive who wish to apply for the programme must enclose a Statement of Purpose (SOP) that enables them to highlight their future goals and achievements. Further, two references, preferably one from the current employer or from an individual who is in a position to evaluate the applicant’s performance on the job is also required along with the application from.

All the applications are reviewed and a shortlist is created based on merit ofapplication and attached SOPs. This is followed by an interview where the panel comprises two faculty members of IIMB and an IIMB alumnus. Candidates who are outside India and unable to attend the Personal Interview in India are offered interview through Video Conference mode. The candidates are evaluated each basis their quality of work, experience, diversity, leadership qualities, social sensitivity, and multi-facetedness.

Further, the key criteria for admission for EPGP include the following:

  • Academic track record
  • GMAT/GRE scores
  • Quality of work experience
  • Performance in the interview
  • Writing Ability Test

A merit list is prepared based on a composite score arrived at by factoring the above criteria. The number of admission offers is decided basis availability of seats and it is also subject to the candidates satisfying a minimum cutoff decided by the admissions committee.

IIMB Executive MBA: Key features

The EPGP in IIM Bangalore offers participants a learning experience that is focused on concepts as well as the rigorous case study classes. IIMB Executive MBA- International Immersion: The international immersion module of the executive MBA programme in Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is introduced in third term. The module is aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding about the globalized economic environment. Under the module, the students are offered an opportunity to visit one of the BRICS countries or countries or developed Asian region like Singapore or South Korea. The BRICS countries comprise China, Russia, Brazil and South Africa. The immersion programme begins with a week-long pre-Immersion session at IIMB campus where industry specialists, and experts on global economy and market lecture students on various topics relevant to international economy, growth and culture. The next two weeks are spent in a country abroad where an associated management school hosts the entire batch during the period.

The lectures abroad focus basically on issues affecting local and business and industry and its global impact. The students also go on field visits, local industries and corporate offices to get a firsthand experience of how businesses are run and how market functions in that particular country. During the international immersion period the participants are divided into group as each group works on a pre-defined project that is allotted to them in advance by their academic mentor at IIM-B.
